Abstract
Voxen is a blockchain-native, massively multiplayer online game combining voxel-based world building inspired by Minecraft with social game mechanics and a creator economy inspired by Roblox. The platform enables players to build, publish, and monetize their own games while earning real value through the native utility token, $VOX.
$VOX launches as an ERC-20 token on Base — Coinbase's Ethereum Layer 2 — with plans for multi-chain expansion following the Token Generation Event (TGE). The token serves as the sole currency within the Voxen ecosystem: purchasing cosmetics, in-game items, creator tool access, and distributing rewards to players and creators alike.
This whitepaper outlines the game design, tokenomics, creator incentive structure, blockchain architecture, and the team behind Voxen.
Introduction
The gaming industry generates over $180 billion in annual revenue, yet almost none of that value flows back to the players who create and sustain it. Platforms like Roblox have demonstrated that user-generated content is the most powerful growth engine in gaming — yet developers and creators on these platforms are fundamentally excluded from the real economic value they generate.
Blockchain technology changes this dynamic. By introducing an open, verifiable token economy, Voxen ensures that every participant — from casual player to power creator — captures genuine economic value proportional to their contribution.
Voxen merges two proven game mechanics:
- Minecraft-style voxel building — infinite, explorable, modifiable worlds made of blocks. Simple to understand, infinitely deep to master.
- Roblox-style game creation — a social platform where players both build and play each other's games. A flywheel that scales with community size.
The result is a platform where the line between player and creator is intentionally blurred — and where both are rewarded with $VOX for their participation.
Game Mechanics
Voxen World Engine
The Voxen game engine renders infinite procedurally generated worlds composed of discrete cubic blocks. Players can mine, place, and transform any block in the world, enabling construction of structures ranging from simple houses to elaborate automated machines.
The engine supports multiplayer worlds with real-time synchronization, allowing thousands of players to inhabit and build within the same persistent world simultaneously.
Game Creation System
Any player can become a creator using the Voxen Studio toolset — an in-game editor that lets users design games using visual scripting. Creators define rules, objectives, physics, and aesthetics without needing to write code.
Published games appear on the Voxen platform, where other players can discover and play them. Creators earn $VOX proportional to the engagement their games generate.
Social Layer
Voxen features a social layer inspired by Roblox's successful social gaming model: friend lists, party systems, in-game avatars, public game discovery feeds, and a cosmetics system. Every avatar and cosmetic item is representable as an on-chain asset, enabling true digital ownership.
Creator Economy
The creator economy is the heart of Voxen's long-term value proposition. 5% of the total $VOX supply is reserved for creator onboarding and rewards, distributed through the following mechanisms:
Creator Reward Pool
A smart contract-managed reward pool distributes $VOX to creators based on engagement metrics: daily active users in their game, session length, player retention, and in-game $VOX spending. Rewards are calculated on-chain and claimable weekly.
Onboarding Grants
Early creators who publish their first qualifying game during Phase 2 and Phase 3 receive a one-time onboarding grant denominated in $VOX. This grant is designed to bootstrap the creator economy before organic rewards become substantial enough to attract creators independently.
Monetization Options
- Game access fees — creators can charge $VOX for entry to their game
- In-game purchases — creators build their own item shops priced in $VOX
- Cosmetic licensing — creators sell unique asset packs on the marketplace
- Tipping — players can directly tip creators they enjoy
Tokenomics
$VOX is the native utility token of the Voxel ecosystem. It is a standard ERC-20 token with a fixed total supply, launched on Base chain.
Supply Allocation
Public sale, play-to-earn rewards, staking, and in-game treasury
Exchange listings, KOL partnerships, and growth campaigns
Vested over 24 months with a 6-month cliff
Onboarding grants and creator reward pool
Token Utility
- In-game currency for cosmetics, items, and world access
- Creator monetization and reward distribution
- Staking to earn platform revenue share
- Governance — token holders vote on platform parameters
- NFT marketplace transaction currency
Vesting
Team tokens are subject to a 6-month cliff followed by 18-month linear vesting, ensuring team alignment with long-term platform success. Marketing and creator onboarding allocations are managed by a multi-sig treasury with community oversight.
Blockchain & Technology
Base Chain (Primary)
$VOX launches on Base — Coinbase's Ethereum Layer 2. Base provides:
- Near-zero transaction fees (fractions of a cent per transaction)
- Fast block finality (~2 second block times)
- Full EVM compatibility — all existing Ethereum tooling works
- Access to Coinbase's user base and wallet infrastructure
Multi-Chain Expansion
Following TGE and the stabilization of the Base deployment, Voxel will bridge $VOX to Ethereum mainnet and Solana via established bridge protocols. Multi-chain liquidity increases token accessibility and reduces friction for players across different ecosystems.
Smart Contract Security
All smart contracts — including the ERC-20 token, reward distribution contracts, and marketplace logic — are audited by a reputable third-party security firm before deployment to mainnet. Audit reports will be published publicly.
